So as some of you might know, I jumped the broom almost two weeks ago! I feel so blessed to be married to my best friend! It was so memorable, quirky, unbelievable, and joyful - I cried more happy tears than I ever have in my entire life. Whoo! A very amazingly-talented young woman by the name of Brianna Goodwin (of Brianna Renee Goodwin Photography) captured our big day and more than exceeded my greatest expectations! Allow me to share them with you. These are entitled "Cook Peek".

I can't wait to see more! Stay tuned!!!
So you might remember when I initially showed you the photo of my bridesmaids' dress. It went a little something like this...

Well needless to say, in April I found out that this dress was nowhere NEAR the hot pink color that I had been picturing in my head. It actually turned out to be plum after some of my girls ordered it. Trust me, I nearly had a heart attack. But, seeing as though it was still so early, I was able to correct the problem by choosing another dress and ordering it for myself to confirm my choice.

Not only do I love the color more (it's dead on), but the cut of the dress with the ruching on the tummy not only flatters the body but looks so sweet and sexy. When the dress came in I was, well, tickled pink. The shoes my girls will be wearing are chocolate satin heels. I'm super de duper excited about how awesome everything will look. Especially with the surprise pop of color for the jewelry!

As for the guys, they will be wearing chocolate pinstripe tuxes with hot pink vests and ties.
Here's B during the tux preview!

Yeah, he was feeling pretty handsome! Brandon will be wearing a white paisley vest and tie underneath his tux (he didn't let me see it because he wanted it to be a surprise). I'm so excited about the bow ties. They make an event feel so much more formal and special.

As for our dads, they'll be wearing chocolate paisley vests and ties. I love it!
Time is winding down! I'll keep you posted!

So Brandon and I finally got our invitations out on Monday and I feel like a HUGE weight has been lifted off of my shoulders! Yesterday I got a text pic from a friend sending me a picture of my wedding invitation suite, and you know what, something that simple made me so happy! It was exactly the kind of picture that I've envied on other wedding sites that I frequent. To finally have my invites out and receiving compliments from others really made me feel great. It's so awesome to see my dreams coming true!

In case you haven't seen it yet, here's our save the date.

And here's the invitation suite I created complete with RSVP card and map with hotel information. The suite was sent in a kraft brown 9x4 envelope. I am sooo happy to finally share it with everyone. Thanks for the pic, Jess! I really needed that small pick me up to let me know I'm going in the right direction!
Hey Guys! I've been all over the place trying to get my ducks in a row for this wedding. Here's some things I've been working on and the inspiration behind it all.

So I saw the idea of using a sweet, little birdcage for cards and such instead of creating the traditional box with a slit on top. How adorable is this? I mean really!

My future mother-in-law (fmil) got us this birdcage and I thought that it was so romantic. You can slide in a card on the top and sides. I'm pretty excited about it!

So I'm sure that you might remember seeing this picture before. There are some amazing doors that look pretty similar to these at my venue that we can can hang our letters from (P.S. how awesome is it that our monogram is R&B). The doors at our venue have vintage loop knockers, so it will be as simple as tying them on.

Of course my awesome fmil got these from Hobby Lobby. I'm contemplating on spray painting them, but I haven't decided what color yet. What do you think?

I picked up these cute jars as an addition to our candy bar. We haven't decided what kind of goodies we're going to fill them with yet, but I'm sure that they will include some combination sour punch and gummies.

Remember my "all bottled up" post? Well, we're up to 34 wine bottles! A little while ago I spray painted  a beer bottle to see if the color would work out. Yesterday I bought some flowers and did a little mock up. I'm absolutely in love with it, and I can't wait to see them in clusters. We filled the bottle with carnations, white daisies, and some greenery (my fmil did the arrangement) and it turned out adorable. Imagine them sitting on chocolate linen and an orange frame for the table number. I can't tell you how excited I am! (And yes, we love cocktails in this house, lol!)

So after being completely overwhelmed by the price for bouquets yesterday I decided to experiment with actually making one. Here's the first one I made (above).

The second one I made.

The third one I made.

As my first attempt, I think they turned out pretty decent. I only spent $30 on flowers total. I'm going to keep practicing with more flowers, but I really think that I may end up turning to Publix for all of the boutonnieres and corsages (they had lovely orchid corsages for only $3), making the centerpieces and bridesmaid bouquets with flowers bought in bulk (more than likely from Costco), and having mine professionally made. Hey, this girl's gotta budget, but you know what, I think that everything will still turn out absolutely gorgeous!
So here it is everyone! I've finally chosen a bridesmaid dress for my girls! After searching long and hard for a sweet, sophisticated dress, I finally ended my search at Newport News. The criteria I had for the dress was simple: find a dress that's sexy, inexpensive, and something that doesn't scream bridesmaid so that they all might want to wear it again. Check, check, and check. I also made sure to find a coupon code so that they could get the 20% off of the order and free shipping. I just know that my girls will look amazing! What do you think?
So I've seen this picture over a hundred times in my folder.

And I have no idea why, but every time I see this picture, I think of my future. Maybe it's because I own a black sofa that's waiting to used, maybe it's because there is an awesome balance of black, white, and sweet colors, maybe it's because whenever I see it, I think of my awesome sweetie and the amazing life I'm going to have with him. This scene looks so chic and relaxing. The coffee table's set for a candlelit dinner, the shoes and purse are casually laid on the floor, and the sofa looks as if it's more than ready to be cuddled upon. This image makes me feel so warm and cozy, and I can't wait to make it a reality.

Speaking  of the future, my babe is actually anticipating our awesome married life as well. With his new blog takethisgroom.com he's telling the world all about how life feels for a groom-to-be. Hey, you know you're curious! Check it out!
So I found a dress that I kind of dig for my bridesmaid. Finding turquoise dresses is proving harder than I ever imagined it would be, so lately aquamarine has been a close second.  The dress is made by Alfred Sung and I found it on Dessy. Hmmm... what do you guys think? I thought I'd sketch a little too (hey, I was a little bored, can you blame me?)

Brandon and I finally decided on the perfect wedding location. To tell you the truth, I definitely felt like Goldilocks when I stumbled upon it because I had been looking for so long without any success. I absolutely love the place, as well as my wedding coordinator - she's wonderful! I can't wait for that lovely day in September! Get ready!!!!

This space will be transformed to accommodate our color pallet. Imagine chocolate linens, turquoise accents, and beautiful, vintage center pieces. So excited!!!
So needless to say I've been a little busy bee with all this wedding planning going on. I always had the idea of sending cute bridesmaid invites because "the call after the proposal" thing was never really my style. I really needed to think about some things, about how I really felt about my girls, and more importantly how I wanted them to feel. Below is my bridesmaid invite -a packet if you will- for the most important ladies in my life. I sent them a few weeks ago and to my pleasing heart, they were delighted to receive them!

This page was personalized with each girl's name. Notice the "r&b" in the background; it's officially our monogram for all of our paper goods. The font was essential to me because I really wanted to hand write them but was finding consistency quite difficult (and time consuming). I love the textual paper, but I promised myself I wouldn't go overkill. Someone may have to stop me...

I felt that this page was absolutely necessary. Let's just say that prior experiences gave me the need to make sure that my bridesmaids not only felt comfortable calling me out or giving me advice, I also wanted them to know that this experience will not, under any circumstances, become bigger than their lives and our friendship.

So often I feel like bridesmaids don't receive a clearly-defined role and that they're just expected to know what their duties are. Of course this really isn't the case. I know that most things I'll have to take care of on my own, but there are always some biggies that make the bridesmaid experiences worthwhile. Mind you, I have 5 of them, so if some of them are busy doing amazing things in their life while I'm cutting invites and watching male strippers (okay, just joking, well, not really) then I totally understand.

Of course the dress thing is always a big issue and I wanted to do my best to explain my thought process. Hopefully everything will work out wonderfully, and it will all turn out amazing. I also made a fourth sheet entitled "here's the skinny" but that one is about time, location, arrangements, etc. - You know, top secret bridesmaid stuff lol! I'll share some more little tidbits soon. Stay tuned!

Gosh, I love seeing my wedding colors out in the world. Get's me so pumped!
For our wedding favors, it was really important for us to keep the costs as inexpensive as possible, yet still give our guests something cute they could remember us by. I told myself that whatever it was, I wanted to make sure that it didn't end up in someone's junk drawer - or better yet get thrown away. What better than to give everyone their own personalized engagement photo of me and Brandon?

Check out these frames! The can be placed upright on a table in landscape or portrait orientation. I spotted them at work and the wheels began to turn.

And now for the kicker - they're only 99 cents for a pack of 4! So with 100 people, and 1 frame each, that equals less than $30 for all the favors total! Go me! So excited.

I definitely want my guests to leave their imprint in a non-traditional way for my wedding. In the past, wedding guests were expected to sign a guest book as courtesy to the bride and groom so that years into the future the couple could flip back through and reflect on their attendance (how they could do that by simply looking at an illegible signature is beyond me, but hey - that was the thing back then). In any case, I wanted to do something that was a bit more unexpected than a guest book, frame signing, or the now super popular wishing tree. Believe it or not, I found some pretty cool alternatives.

A vintage photo station would work out pretty well because the guests could take photos at their leisure and the bride and groom could later be surprised by all of the things that went on behind the scenes. I would love to have a dedicated station with cameras (a photo booth would be amazing, but unfortunately just as  expensive as hiring a photographer) or perhaps place an instant camera at each table and let the guests have at it.

I also love the idea placing farewell jars at the entrance of the reception (something great for the guests to do while they are waiting for the wedding party to finish pictures). Wit, wisdom, and wishes -How Darling! I love the idea of asking everyone for advice - whether they're married or not. I'd love to see what great things people might come us with, so it might be a condensed version of a jar that says, "Advice for Newlyweds"

A step up from the  w^3 jar  is the dirty laundry guest book concept developed by melangerienyc on Etsy. The idea is that each guest could reveal a cute, quirky, crazy, or favorite memory about the guests of honor - together or individually, which would be a great way to get guests involved during the reception.

The dj could read a comment after every few songs. Included with the kit is a customized detergent bottle, a laundry bag, twine, clothes pins, and adorable cut outs of clothing that guests write on and hang up in a designated area. Is this a great DIY or what? A Tide bottle template, and you're half way there...

And for the mackdaddy of all guest books - a adorable couple used a Mongstad and a lipstick station. I just had to share! Properly named the "kissing booth" it's pretty much the cutest thing ever.

I know that this mirror comes with wall anchors to secure it at the bottom to avoid slippage, but that would be out of the question at a venue. Perhaps tilting it without them would be okay- I'd speak with the venue to make sure.  This mirror was already on my must have list for our home because it's so versatile and adds instant chic to any space, but adding the lipstick, I could see it being a really awesome conversation piece in our first place!
